Owner & Chef at Doju
Born in Jeollanam-do, South Korea, Mika Chae moved to Melbourne in 2013 and found his way into cooking after starting out as a kitchen hand. His food brings Korean flavours and traditions together with seasonal Australian produce, earning him a Chef’s Hat in The Age Good Food Guide.
From the street food he grew up eating in Korea to daily-made kimchi, tteokbokki and his go-to fried chicken knock-off, Mika Chae shares the Melbourne spots that taste like home. Come hungry and be ready for plenty of chilli, soju and somaek.
